Health Information
In my quest to lose a few pounds, I've researched many weight loss schemes and
gimmicks. This page attempts to summarize the results of my research.
Supplements
- Chromium is an essential trace mineral that most people do not get enough of in their
diet. It helps the body regulate its insulin level and in turn helps with the
metabolization of fat. You can get chromium from brewer's yeast.
- Chromium Picolinate is chromium scientifically engineered to help the body absorb it
faster. There is debate as to its safety. Some say with long term usage it can
cause chromosomal damage. I would recommend using a chromium supplement without
picolinate. A dosage of 200 mcg per day is advisable.
- Ripped Fuel is a deadly supplement. Used mainly by bodybuilders to lose body fat,
it is also being widely used by those who wish to lose weight. Several people have
died from taking this supplement. The ingredient that makes it deadly is Ma Huang, a
Chinese herb with the same effects as ephedrine, a drug which can cause high blood
pressure, strokes, and heart attacks.
There is an abundance of information to support the information listed above. Use
Alta-Vista (or other search engine) to find articles on the above. A word of
caution: Compose your query carefully or you'll find mostly propaganda from the
companies that make, distribute, and/or sell the above products. A good place to
start your research are news sites such as ABC News.
Books

For those of you seeking to lose body
fat (and weight), this is the book for you. The sequel to "The Zone : A
Dietary Road Map to Lose Weight Permanently : Reset Your Genetic Code : Prevent
Disease : Achieve Maximum Physical Performance", this book is a must read for
those who are tired of diets that don't work. "I've lost ten pounds in two
weeks!" Claims one of my friends. You can read more about this book (and
buy it if you wish) by clicking on it. If you are not familiar with "the
Zone", you can check out these sites: The
Zone Files (the official home page of the Zone) and Zone
Home.
